August 2019 - Chairman’s Corner

At the AGM a proposal was accepted that we should operate a warden system on club merses. We therefore called for volunteers as part of the membership renewal process but regrettably no volunteers came forward. Our current rules therefore apply and any member may act in the capacity of Warden.

Notwithstanding this point we have arranged warden training with BASC jointly with Caerlaverock Wildfowlers with SNH also invited. This training will give all our members the opportunity to understand what is involved and be BASC qualified in this area. Furthermore if anyone wishes to assist SNH with the monitoring scheme at Caerlaverock they will be eligible to do so subject to SNH sole decision on their appointment.

Training will be held on Thursday 12 September at The Nith Hotel 19.00 for a 19.30 start. There is no charge and I encourage as many of you to attend as possible. If you wish to do so please let Graeme know via the contact on this website.

A presentation was made to David Campbell at the last committee meeting on behalf of colleagues in the Association. The President, Ray Schiller presented him with a wildfowl painting as a token of thanks for all his service to the Association, which included some 27 years as Chairman.
